Our Services

Visiting Service

If you are feeling lonely, or would just like more social contact, it’s important to do something about it and Age Concern Southland can help. Our Visiting Service is a companion service that provides regular visits to older people who would like more company. Our visitors are volunteers who are matched with a client that they visit for at least an hour each week. They share conversation and laughs, often over a cuppa.

Our visiting service coordinator, Chris, is a whiz at matching people with similar interests and would love to hear from anyone who would like to be either a volunteer or a client.

Contact Chris today on 03 218 6351.

Elder Abuse Response Service

This is a confidential advocacy service for people experiencing elder abuse in our community.  Our Elder Abuse response workers walk alongside our clients, providing advice, support and advocacy. We are passionate about this part of our service and take every opportunity to raise awareness of Elder Abuse.

Contact Donagh or Janette on 03 218 6351 to report any concerns you may have about a friend, neighbour or family member.

Social Work Service

Our social worker, Emma, is on hand to assist any older person in the community and their whanau to meet any welfare needs. We have information on a wide range of topics and can access a range of supports including checking WINZ entitlements, advocacy, completing forms, accessing grants, accommodation issues, general queries, arranging meals, referrals to other services… the list goes on!
