Digital & Device Technology Classes Return to Age Concern Southland

Age Concern Southland is pleased to be partnering with Frontline Invercargill to bring back our Digital and Device Technology Classes for older people in the community.

Whether you would like help sending photos to family, using email, learning about apps, navigating your phone or tablet, or simply becoming more confident with technology, these classes are designed to support you at your own pace. No question is too small, and participants are encouraged to bring along their own devices and learn the skills most important to them.

Alongside practical digital skills, there will also be a strong focus on cyber security and staying safe online. Participants can learn how to recognise scams, protect personal information, and use technology more confidently and securely.

Students from Frontline Invercargill will be available at Age Concern every second Thursday to provide friendly, one-on-one support and guidance.

Classes begin on Thursday 11 June in the Dining Room at Age Concern Southland.

People are welcome to register their interest by phone or email, or simply come along on the day. If you have a specific question or something particular you would like help with, feel free to let us know in advance so we can best support you.

To register your interest or find out more, contact Age Concern Southland on 03 218 6351 or email emma.furlonge@acinv.org.nz.

We look forward to helping older people build confidence and stay connected in an increasingly digital world.

Stay Aware of Romance Scams

As part of our cyber safety focus, we encourage people to stay informed about current online scams.

One recent scam involves people pretending to be celebrities online, including fake profiles claiming to be Brad Pitt. These scammers build trust and online relationships before eventually asking for money.

Remember — genuine celebrities will never contact people privately asking for financial help, bank transfers, or gift cards.

Our Digital & Device Technology Classes will include practical tips on recognising scams and staying safe online.
